EFFECTIVE FLOW CONTROL AROUND A CIRCULAR CYLINDER BY USING BOTH A SPLITTER PLATE AND PLASMA ACTUATORS AS PASSIVE AND ACTIVE CONTROL METHODS

In this study, passive and active flow control methods were used together to manipulate the around a circular cylinder. The experiments conducted in wind tunnel for Reynolds number range of 4000 10000 based on diameter cylinder (D). A splitter plate was as device its length chosen be about 3.75D. Plasma actuators placed at position ±90° an device. Combining methods, greater reduction drag coefficient achieved compared that cases when using these separately. For numbers 5000 10000, hybrid method gives 48% 45%, respectively. velocity measurements carried out by hot-wire anemometry profiles obtained wake region. visualized smoke wire method. results revealed region with plasma actuator has narrower width than plain plate. Also, it can seen from spectral analysis vortex shedding frequency suppressed significantly usage used.
